Volunteer Opportunities

The Rivanna Conservation Society has a number of openings for Volunteers including:

April 2, 2008 Teacher Watershed Summit (registration assistance needed)
April 19-20, 2008 Rivanna River Sojourn from Charlottesville to Fluvanna County (need help with registration, boat launch, and food donations)
May 10, 2008 River Clean Up with the Girl Scouts
August 2008 Annual River Clean Up (final date to be announced)
September 6, 2008 RCA Annual Meeting at the Design Center on the Charlottesville Mall (need help with registration)
October 18, 2008 World Water Monitoring Day (need help with student monitoring for pH, temperature, clarity and dissolved oxygen)

Student Internships are available as well. Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to river clean ups, river paddles, the Rivanna River Sojourn, staffing the new Community Hot Line, assistance with youth education programs and in office administration. The interns we seek will enjoy working outdoors, have a strong connection to nature and the environment, are creative and self reliant. Competence in Word, Excel, Access and Power Point will also be very helpful.
